Pitchers & Catchers Report | 28 | 2.8 | #19

My friend Katie Sekelsky designed a T-shirt to commemorate the 2012 Opening Day for the Altoona Curve, the Eastern League (AA) affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In appreciation for her design, she has been invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch for Altoona’s season.

Today she came over to begin training for her pitch.

She was ably coached on her delivery by the Spousal Unit:

60' 6"

Because Opening Day, April 5, is still during Lent, there is one minor concern: Properly photographing her appearance on the mound will take a longer lens than the 28 mm lens that I've been using for my Lenten project. Therefore, I’ve decided to follow the lead of the Vatican, which categorized the capybara as a fish for purposes of Lenten dietary restrictions.

Speaking ex catbox, and therefore unfallibly, I hereby categorize Katie as a rare bird in need of documentation, and therefore not subject to the normal lens restriction.

Also, unfallibly is a perfectly cromulent word. I said so, and I’m unfallible.
